This is one of the most demanding walks I have done, but I do like a good challenge, so I enjoyed it. The challenges came from the constant climbing up and down along the ridge lines. It also rained, so it was muddy and slippery. Thank god for chains to pull yourself up with, otherwise […]

GEAR REVIEW Injinji toe socks So i got blisters an GEAR REVIEW
Injinji toe socks
So i got blisters and hot spots while doing the kepler a year ago. The main problem was my feet go wet from heavy rain and i could never dry my shoes out = hot spot which led to blisters . Then i heard about Injinji toe socks from @sarah macdonald i tried them and have never looked back.
Injinji hiking socks are anatomically designed and wrap each toe in fabric to prevent blister-causing friction. Injinji hiking socks are the best hiking socks to prevent blisters. #hiking #injinji #socks #blisterfree #gamechanger #happy #rive#rivercrossings #newzealand
I thought i would do a gear review on two light we I thought i would do a gear review on two light weight tents
Zpac Duplex vs Dursten Xmid pro

Zpac Duplex(white tent in photos)
Pro's
- Light weight only 600 grams
- you can sit up in it
- You use your walking poles for your tent poles

Con's
- Can't zip the outter shut instead it has 2 button loops top hold shut so wind can blow thorugh you mesh
- One guy did a review saying hail stone had ripped his tent he had this brand
- Poles in the way when you get in and out of the tent
- reccomending piching is not quiet right 110 don't buy fix pole but you adjustable poles
- it get condensation inside easily

Dursten Xmid pro(light blue in photo's)
pro's
- you cab use your hiking poles for tent poles
- Bigger foot print more room inside and outside the tent
-600 grams
- more room head to toe for someone who is taller so less likely sleeping bag will touch tent and get wet from condensation

Con's
- bigger foot print so have to find a larger flat space to pitch
- hard to get a tight pitch
- Pin's in the lower corners of the tent to help make a bath tub at bottm of floor but makes you worried as you roll up the tent if pin's are not all flat may peice the tent
- gets condensation easily

@Sarah mcdonald helped me do this review as both tents are her's. Sarah add anything i may have left off in the comments. If anyone else has these tents would love to hear you feedback on then. Or any other light weight tents you find good as well i think these tents retail are around $1200 each. ps this is not a paid promotion.#hiking #camping #zpax #Durston #review #pottsriver #christchurch #mystrylake

When i did a course at Wintec our instructer got u When i did a course at Wintec our instructer got us to set up a sail similar the one in this photo he shared that the wind and sail allowed us to move faster than we would have been able to by simply paddling. This is a fun thing to do if you have a group of people kayaking and the wind is on your side and you have a bit of experience guideing group. It gave us a break form Paddleing and is also a good team building activity. I wouldn't recommned it in strong winds however. #kayaking #teambuilding #fun #relax #chill #summer #groups #learning
Four tips to paddle faster in a double kayak Padd Four tips to paddle faster in a double kayak

Paddling in Unison
The most efficient way of paddling them is by doing so in unison. Not only will you power your kayak forward most quickly, but you'll also avoid the clashing of paddles. It can take some practice at first, but is well worth the team effort!

Stronger paddler in the back
If there's one paddler who's physically stronger than the other, it makes sense for them to sit in the back seat, while the weaker sits up front and dictates the paddling pace. From the back, the stronger paddler can modify their stroke to keep pace, and will also have enough control over the boat to keep paddling if the person up front wants to take a break.

The Paddler in the Front Should Control the Rhythm
Since the paddler in front can't see the paddler behind him or her, it only makes sense for the paddler in the bow to control the paddling rhythm. This means the paddler in the front should just paddle freely. The paddler in the front should not, however, attempt to steer the kayak as it will have little effect on the boat and only serve to mess up the rear paddler. Just paddle forward normally unless the paddler behind you suggests something different.

The Paddler in the Rear Should Follow the Front Paddler
The paddler in the stern of the kayak has the full view of what is going on. He or she should, therefore, attempt to match the strokes of the paddler in front of them. By paddling in synchronicity like this, the kayakers paddlers shouldn't cross or smack each other and the kayak should travel relatively straight. If the kayak starts to veer one way or the other, the kayaker in the rear should still keep in rhythm with the front paddler but should use a more powerful and exaggerated forward stroke on the side opposite the direction you want to go. So if the boat is veering to the right, take a powerful stroke on the right side to make the boat correct to the left and vice versa.

Hopefully you can take these tips and get to your destination faster on you next tandem kayak.
